Veteran DAP politician Lim Kit Siang has landed in hot water over an insensitive tweet on William Yau, the six-year-old boy whose body was found floating in a river near Port Klang on Thursday night.
Lim had tweeted at 4.05pm today: “6yr William Yau’s tragic death – apart from Umno/BN Ministers/leaders, Msia just not safe even 4children like William!”
Within minutes, twitterers started hammering him for trying to “manipulate the death of a child to gain political mileage.”
Many of the tweets stated that Lim’s statement was “sick”, “appalling” and “uncalled for”.
One tweet read: “No need to politicise.”
Another stated: “ There’s a time & place for politics. This isnt it.”
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin wrote in his Facebook page: “Insiden tragis ini pun nak dikaitkan dengan politik. What kind of leader is this? Daripada kita kerjasama menjaga keselamatan kanak-kanak, ada yang tak melepas peluang untuk berpolitik.
Show some class, please!”
Even a tragic incident is linked to politics. What kind of leader is this? We all have to cooperate to look after the safety of our children, but there are some who will use all opportunities for politicking.
Show some class, please.
